How Malta Super5 Works: Rules, Odds & Claims

An independent informational guide explaining draw mechanics, prize categories, odds calculations, and official verification procedures according to public National Lottery regulations.

1. Basic Game Rules

Malta Super5 is a classic lottery game administered under statutory license by National Lottery plc in Malta. Players select five unique numbers from a numerical range of 1 to 45.

  • Number Pool: 1 through 45.
  • Numbers Drawn: Exactly 5 winning balls are extracted randomly per draw.
  • Draw Schedule: Draws take place twice weekly, every Wednesday and Friday evening.
  • Bonus Ball: Super5 does not have a bonus or supplementary ball in the standard game.

2. Prize Tiers and Odds Mathematics

The total possible combinations of choosing 5 numbers out of 45 is determined by the combinatorial formula:

C(45, 5) = 45! / (5! × 40!) = 1,221,759 combinations
Prize Category Winning Criteria Mathematical Odds Payout Structure
Match 5 (Jackpot) Match all 5 drawn numbers 1 in 1,221,759 Pari-mutuel fund (Rolls over if unwon, starts at minimum guaranteed fund)
Match 4 Match any 4 drawn numbers 1 in 6,108 Pari-mutuel share based on ticket sales
Match 3 Match any 3 drawn numbers 1 in 157 Pari-mutuel share distributed among winners

Overall odds of winning any prize in a single standard Super5 entry are approximately 1 in 152.

3. Understanding Super5 PLUS

Super5 PLUS is an additional option available to players when purchasing a Super5 ticket. A separate secondary machine performs an independent draw of 5 numbers from 1 to 45.

Key differences include:

  • Fixed top prize of €100,000 for Match 5 PLUS.
  • Fixed secondary prize of €500 for Match 4 PLUS.
  • Fixed consolation tier of €25 for Match 3 PLUS.

4. How to Verify Winning Tickets Officially

Quibsmate Workshop displays verified draw records for informational reference, but physical tickets must be presented to authorized lottery terminals for formal validation.

  1. Keep your physical paper ticket intact and secure.
  2. Check numbers against the official National Lottery website at lottery.mt/super5/results.
  3. Scan or validate your ticket at any licensed National Lottery retail POS terminal in Malta. Use our Live Outlets Map to locate active agents.
  4. Verify within the statutory deadline (claims must typically be registered within 60 days of the draw date under Malta regulations).

5. Responsible Gambling Guidelines

Lotteries are a form of commercial gambling designed for adult entertainment. They are not a wealth-building method or financial vehicle.

  • Never wager more than you can comfortably afford to spend as leisure expenses.
  • Do not chase losses by buying additional tickets.
  • Past frequency statistics do not improve winning odds.
  • Participants in Malta must be 18 years of age or older.
